By exploiting this crucial evolutionary milestone, the ring functions as a highly portable restraint system. Through this act of confinement, I propose a new physical relationship between the body and the jewelry.

In infrastructure, these plates rely primarily on the mechanism of friction to bear immense structural loads. I translated this industrial function of joining separate elements through frictional force into a ring that fastens human fingers together.
